#i will never fault these two for this mess#i think they did their best with the little they were given here#and i think they are far FAR better actors than this episode allowed them to be#john was literally a cardboard cut out being moved from room to room#wtf#but i will continue to love these two#and they will continue to be my john and sherlock#because they have done so brilliantly until this last bit of nonsense#they have imbued these characters with such heart and so many subtle layers#it’s still truly truly beautiful what they made together#and these gifs of them are honestly making me so happy that i had the privilege of watching that when it was happening (via @hudders-and-hiddles)

That sequence occurs in the grim no-man’s-land between English and German battlefield trenches. Though Diana has been told she can’t cross it and must play by man’s rules, she takes it upon herself to save women and children threatened by the Germans. It’s a very powerful moment. We have a character committing to her true self, doing what she believes needs to be done.
